Horse Racing Tips – 6th June 2015
Despite a lower than usual strike rate of late, we have been picking up some nice profits due to some great value winners and a few decent paying multi’s. At the end of the day I don’t care how we get them, as long as it ends in the positive.
Today is the pinnacle of Brisbane racing, with the AAMI Stradbroke Handicap, as well as another two group 1s and three group 2s. Oh boy…..Let’s dig deep and find some winners.
Preferred Staking
Outside of getting odds early, the best way to maximise your wins is to have an online bookie that gives you the ‘Best of’ markets. We prefer Bet365 because it gives you the best of the totes or the fixed price, and always seem to have the best FIXED odds. Get a Bet365 account here
We recommend placing 1 unit each way on those with suitable place odds ($1.80 or more). Otherwise it is 2 units on the nose or 1 unit for multi’s.
Doomben (QLD) – Stradbroke Day
Usually we don’t select horses in each race because it goes against our system, but today is a special one so we will do it for those of you that are keen.
Race 1: Kaepernick
Up from Sydney this week after a very strong 2nd last Saturday. Only unplaced once in 5 starts at the trip, and barrier 5 will allow him to sit close, which is usually essential at Doomben. A nice 2kg off his back adds to the appeal.
Race 2: Frequendly
I will give her one more chance here. Will appreciate the inside draw and is likely to push into the front couple. Turning into the straight she will look the winner at some stage, so with any luck she holds off the challengers.
Race 3: Strawberry Boy
Back to his best last start and this is no harder. Will lead and my feeling based on a sample size on just one, is that the track is ideal for him. Again will look the winner at some stage in the straight.
Race 4: Catkins
This race is definitely weaker than her last few. Plus it isn’t a Group 1, so she is a very strong chance. Personally I think she rolls forward and outsprints them to the line.
Race 5: Hijack Hussy
Big risk here because she notoriously goes miles back. I do think the 1600m suits perfectly and her last start (although 8th), she was motoring home late. It is a tough race to grab a standout so some value might just be the way to go.
Race 6: Blueberry Hill
Has really done nothing to suggest she can’t win this. The extra distance suits perfectly I think.
Race 7: Werther (Roughie: Spur on Gold)
Werther went bang last start and from barrier 1 I can see him doing the same thing. Will press forward and should be too strong in the end. Spur on Gold is an absolute knockout chance at odds (if you love a roughy). Racing superbly in Victoria, and last start delivered us a very close 2nd at odds. The barrier doesn’t matter because he will stay back and charge home. I doubt he catches the favourite but who knows.
Race 8: Boban
I am dirty on myself for not taking the big fella last start after I have followed him his whole career and we have shares in his sister…. He really didn’t give us any reason though. Based on that I will take him today. Everything looks the same: similar barrier, 1kg less, and same conditions. Part of this is because I want him to win, and let’s be clear there are so many great chances here, but Boban will give me the most excitement for my $$. Plus we are up miles this year to date so I am going for it!
Race 9: Sense of Occasion
This is his biggest test here but drawn perfectly and comes in at 53kgs. A fortnight ago was a great win leading into this.
Moonee Valley (Vic)
Race 3: Jessy Belle
One of our favourites who has made us plenty in the past. Racing really well this prep but finishing off too late. 1600m suits 4th up. Watch for her to fly home.
Race 6: Yesterday’s Songs
This race is much easier than the last few so ignore recent results. Likes to sit back so will get the chance from the wide draw. Only concern is the short straight, he may not have enough time to reel them in. Watch for an early move on the turn and he will be right in the finish.
Race 7: Kenjorwood
Barrier 4 will push him forward, and if that happens he looks the winner.
Race 9: Boomwa
Likes to lead and that suits here. Drop in distance also a plus.
Randwick (NSW)
Race 4: Loophole
Let us down last start but showed enough to take him again.
Race 6: Target in Sight
The wide barrier won’t matter here because he will sit back. With any luck the outside, which will provide a good passage late. Last few have been against some ripper horses and he isn’t far away. Looks right to win this.
Morphettville (SA)
Race 3: Capodecina
If you follow us enough you will know we have big wraps on this horse. Just hasn’t poked the nose in front the last couple, but today looks perfect. Will be coming home strong.
Race 7: Alcobro
Simply put I can’t find a reason why he can’t win. That will do me.
Belmont (WA)
Race 4: First Among Equals
Looks the winner here. Although he does get a nice claim but he will need it starting at 61.5kg. The fact that he is carrying the grandtand is the only concern.
Race 5: Top Show
Meets North Ridge 5kgs better off. That is a massive difference. Barrier 1 also suits more. Likely to turn the tables here.
Race 8: Rebel King
Love this horse. Saw his first ever trial and he hasn’t disappointed since. Gets a nice weight claim and again looks too good here.
Multi’s
If you love some multi’s then here you go. Let’s hope they fall as they should.
