Horse Racing Tips – 20th June 2015
The horses still aren’t falling our way lately. No big losses, but we want the wins. A couple of nice races today, particularly on the Gold Coast. Let’s dig in!
Outside of getting odds early, the best way to maximise your wins is to have an online bookie that gives you the ‘Best of’ markets. We prefer Bet365 because it gives you the best of the totes or the fixed price, and always seem to have the best fixed odds. Get a Bet365 account here
We recommend placing 1 unit each way on those with suitable place odds ($1.80 or more). Otherwise it is 2 units on the nose or 1 unit for multi’s.
Gold Coast (QLD)
Race 1: She’s Miss Divine
Arguably should of won last start, but regardless looked super. Wide barrier is the concern and she has a steep weight rise. Will need some luck but she always gives a great chance.
Race 2: Kalandula
Won her last two and looks to have turned a nice corner. Loves the track and the distance suits. Gets a nice weight claim and only needs a decent run to be right in this.
Race 7: Avoid Lightning (Real Surreal)
This is a very tough race, but what a spectacle. I am going to have a little each way go at two for some interest. Avoid Lightning will get the perfect sit from barrier 1 and her sprint is as good as most here. Real Saga is a big roughy, but I think she is a massive show with some luck. Drawn the carpark yes, but she sits back anyway and will pull wide and fly home. Considering her last start win, I have to give her a chance at big money. While we are here I will say that if we are to lose I hope it is so Catkins gets her first G1 win.
Race 8: Into the Red
Tough race here with a few chances, but I like the look of Into the Red. Drawn well, nice weight, and in great form. Arguably should of won last start when kept wide the entire circuit. Stays at 1200m which is ideal, so I will give him a real chance.
Race 2: God’s in Him
This race is not strong here, and previous racing says he just should win this. You might still get $2+ fixed if you shop around.
Race 5: Alegria
Apparently failed on soft last start but previously won easily on heavy. Down in weights here and I will give her another chance at nice enough odds.
Race 7: Bonete
Failed in a much tougher race last start. Drops in weight here and is 1 from 1 on heavy. Drop to the 1000m I think suits here.
Race 2: Capodecina
No secret I love this horse. He is overdue after some great runs and drops to 54.5 kg here which helps. My guess is he will have to overcome the class of Woakwine, but I think he can.
Race 7: Pendlebury
I may be blinded slightly by the name (being a Pies fan), but he has won both starts, and won well. First up this prep he motored home, suggesting the 1300m suits perfectly. Should get a nice outside run and give it every chance in the straight. Might just be a special horse in the making…but time will tell.
Race 1: Blackwood
Any horse that beats the same field by 7.5L last start is good enough for me. Should be very short though.
Race 2: First Among Equals
Was far too good last start when carrying the grand stand. Again should be too good here.
Race 5: Son of Something
A big favourite of ours. First up has won 2 of 3 and this race is not too hard. Massive overs so I must have a go.
