$1000 AFL Challenge Bet 1
A frustrating loss to our Challenge last week considering we all probably went into the last leg supremely confident. Oh well, that’s how she rolls some times and there is nothing we can do to predict it. All part of the excitement.
Let’s have another go with a very solid Bet 1 for this weekend. There is still plenty of time to grab that second $1000, so get amongst it.

Sydney Swans vs Richmond Tigers (Sydney Cricket Ground – Friday 26th June)
The Tigers came back to earth with a thud last week against the underrated Eagles, while the Swans had a well-deserved rest. I like the Tigers here to put up a great contest, but at the SCG and with a double chance to sure up, the Swans just shouldn’t lose this game. All over the ground they have the class edge and just too many match winners for the Tigers to hold out. Doesn’t mean the Tigers aren’t a good team, the Swans are just better at this stage. Give us a 2 goal buffer and we should be relatively confident all game.
Multi selection: Sydney +12.5
Hawthorn Hawks vs Essendon Bombers (Melbourne Cricket Ground – Saturday 27th June)
There is always plenty of spice in the Hawks v Bombers clashes, and this won’t be any different. Regardless of that, it is all about class at this stage and the Hawks are miles ahead. Forget the upset early in the season, I think the Hawks have warmed up plenty more since then. The Bombers might give it a shake early, but the Hawks proved last week that they only need 15 minutes to put a game out of reach. I can see that happening again, with the Hawks making a statement heading towards a top 4 berth.
Multi selection: Hawthorn to win
St Kilda Saints vs Western Bulldogs (Etihad Stadium – Saturday 19th June)
Two young enthusiastic teams go head to head in a game that should be fast paced and full of entertainment. The Saints are giving it a good show lately and will be pumped after their last gasp win over the Demons before the break. The Doggies on the other hand absolutely demolished the Brisbane Lions. When they apply the pressure and run for four quarters they could deadest beat anyone. This will be a cracker but the Doggies should have too much for too long.
Multi selection: Western Bulldogs +22.5 ‘alternate handicap’
Carlton Blues vs Gold Coast Suns
The last game of our multi, and watch out if the same result eventuates. In Melbourne, after a super win against Port Adelaide, I think the Blues might just win back to back here. The Suns will be buoyed by some likely inclusions, and while a win wouldn’t surprise at all, it just doesn’t look likely. And 28+ points? Come on!
Multi selection: Carlton blues +27.5 ‘alternate handicap’
Recommended Challenge Bet 1 (Multi)
- Sydney +12.5 ‘alternate handicap’
- Hawthorn to win
- Western Bulldogs +22.5 ‘alternate handicap’
